On December 4, 2025, Alaska Adventures officially rebranded as Arctic Air, marking a bold new chapter in rugged northern aviation. Specializing in demanding bush flying operations, the airline delivers vital transport and adventurous access across the unforgiving backcountry. Whether hauling essential cargo into unpaved outposts or airlifting passengers over vast frozen wilderness, Arctic Air represents the raw, practical spirit of remote frontier aviation.
To tackle these extreme conditions, Arctic Air operates a versatile, high-capability fleet tailored for short, rough airfields and heavy loads. Legendary radial-engine workhorses like the DC-3 and DC-6 provide heavy-lift reliability alongside proven classic STOL airframes like the DHC-2 Beaver, DHC-4 Caribou, and DHC-6 Twin Otter. Complementing these traditional lifelines are modern, high-performance turboprops—including the Cessna C208 Grand Caravan, Daher Kodiak, and Pilatus PC-12—ensuring safety, speed, and modern efficiency on every haul.

Braving the harsh extremes of the frozen tundra, Arctic Air Cargo delivers reliable, lifeline air freight operations across North America's most challenging northern routes. From the northernmost edges of Barrow down through Yellowknife and all the way to Seattle, our crews navigate sub-zero temperatures, unpredictable weather, and remote ice strips to keep isolated communities and vital industries connected. No destination is too remote, and no climate is too severe when essential supplies, machinery, and cargo need to reach the front lines of the North.
Our versatile fleet is built specifically to conquer the unpaved runways and rugged backcountry of the Arctic. Powered by proven bush planes and heavy-lift workhorses—including the legendary DHC-2 Beaver, DHC-6 Twin Otter, DHC-4 Caribou, Cessna 208 Caravan, Daher Kodiak, Pilatus PC-12, and Beechcraft 18—alongside reliable classics like the Shorts 330, Douglas DC-3, and DC-6, we have the right aircraft for every payload. Whether it is short takeoff and landing capability or heavy radial cargo power, Arctic Air Cargo gets the job done where standard aviation stops.

Based in the rugged wilderness of Alaska, 49Charters is a virtual airline on the VATSIM network dedicated to the demanding art of bush flying. Operating primarily in Southeast Alaska, roughly 95% of its charter flights serve remote outpost cabins throughout the Ketchikan and Wrangell regions using specialized Misty Fjords cabin scenery. Pilots navigate tight fjords, unforgiving weather, and unpaved, unpredictable landing sites, offering a deeply atmospheric experience for aviators looking to test their stick-and-rudder skills.
To tackle these demanding routes, 49Charters relies heavily on workhorse aircraft built for short takeoffs and heavy loads: the legendary de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver and the classic Douglas DC-3. Whether hauling critical supplies to isolated outposts or maneuvering a floatplane onto a secluded inlet, the operations deliver a thrilling simulation environment. Marking a major operational evolution, 49Charters officially merged with Arctic Air in August 2025, expanding its reach across the Last Frontier while maintaining its commitment to challenging backwoods aviation.

Arctic Air operates with a single, highly versatile Airbus H145, built specifically to thrive in the demanding, untamed wilderness of Alaska. Known for its twin-engine reliability, high-altitude performance, and spacious, quiet cabin, the H145 is the ultimate workhorse for rugged multi-mission operations. Whether navigating tight mountain passes or setting down on tight riverbanks, it provides a safe, smooth, and powerful ride to places planes simply cannot reach.
For adventurers seeking the trip of a lifetime, Arctic Air unlocks Alaska's most exclusive territory. Precision heli-drops deliver anglers directly to remote, untouched streams teeming with trophy salmon and trout, far beyond the reach of crowded spots. Mountain lovers can soar above towering jagged peaks and step out directly onto high-altitude summits for breathtaking, panoramic views. Sightseers and hunters alike benefit from the aircraft’s incredible visibility and reach, offering unparalleled access to observe brown bears, moose, and caribou in their natural habitats or to transport hunting parties and heavy gear deep into prime backcountry units.
Beyond passenger charters, the H145 excels at heavy-duty utility and logistical support. Designed to quickly transition between comfortable passenger transport and a rugged cargo configuration, Arctic Air seamlessly moves critical supplies, oversized gear, and field equipment to off-grid outposts, research sites, and remote camps. Rain, snow, or shine, Arctic Air connects you to the furthest corners of Alaska with speed, precision, and uncompromised safety.
